Find your perfect Colombian shapewear size. Most sizing mistakes come from measuring too tightly or trusting your usual clothing size — fajas use compression sizing, which is different.
-
Use a soft tape measure to record your natural waist (the narrowest part of your torso, about one inch above your navel) and your hips (the fullest part of your buttocks, roughly 8 to 10 inches below your waist). Then compare those numbers against the brand-specific size chart on the product page. Every product on Stella's Corset Canada includes a built-in size calculator that auto-detects the brand and recommends your size based on your measurements. If your measurements span two sizes, we generally recommend sizing up — Colombian shapewear delivers firm compression, and a faja that's too small will roll, dig in, and ruin your silhouette instead of smoothing it.
-
For most fajas you only need two measurements: natural waist and hips. For bodysuits and full-body shapewear you'll also want your torso length, measured from the top of your shoulder, down the front of your body, between your legs, and back up to the same shoulder. For bras and bra-friendly bodysuits, measure your underbust and full bust. Keep the tape parallel to the floor and snug but not tight — you should be able to slide one finger underneath. Measuring too tightly is the single most common sizing mistake.
-
Size up. Colombian shapewear is engineered to compress your body, so a faja that's slightly larger will still shape you effectively, while one that's too small will create rolls, visible lines, and discomfort. This is especially important for first-time wearers and for post-surgery patients — your body needs gentler compression during the first 2 to 3 weeks of healing, and sizing up gives you that margin.
-
Yes, compared to standard US shapewear, Colombian fajas tend to run one to two sizes smaller. A US size large is often a Colombian XL or 2XL. That's because Colombian sizing is based on metric measurements (centimeters of waist and hip) rather than dress size, and the compression level is significantly firmer. Always check the brand-specific size chart on the product page rather than assuming your usual size — every brand we carry uses its own scale.
-
Colombian fajas are designed to deliver firm, body-shaping compression, so they will feel tight for the first 30 to 60 minutes of wear. The latex and powernet fabric softens and conforms to your body within the first few wears. If after a week the faja still feels painful, leaves deep red marks that don't fade within an hour, or restricts your breathing, it's likely too small and should be exchanged. Mild pressure, however, is normal and expected.
-
Yes, as long as the faja is unworn, unwashed, in its original packaging, with all tags attached. Try it on briefly over thin clothing to check the fit before removing tags. Return requests must be submitted within 15 days of delivery. For full details, see our Returns & Exchanges section below or email support.canada@stellascorset.com with your order number.
-
A correctly sized faja should feel firmly hugging but not painful. You should be able to breathe normally, sit comfortably for 20 to 30 minutes, and bend forward without sharp pain. If the faja causes numbness, tingling, shortness of breath, or skin discoloration, it's too tight — remove it and exchange for a larger size. If it slides down, gaps at the waist, or you can fit a full hand under the fabric, it's too loose.
-
No — each brand uses its own system. Stella's Corset shapewear uses XS–7XL with cm measurements. Fajas Salome uses expert sizes (XS–6XL) that run smaller than standard. Snatched Body uses a three-measurement bust-waist-hip system. Our Size Guide popup auto-detects the brand and shows the correct chart on every product page.
-
Yes. For the first 2 to 3 weeks after surgery, your body is swollen and your skin is sensitive. Wearing your normal size during this period can compress incisions too tightly and slow healing. Most surgeons recommend going one size up from your calculated size for the immediate post-op period, then transitioning to your true size for Stage 2. Stage 1 fajas are intentionally designed with low compression for this reason.
-
For a waist trainer (a band that covers only your midsection), you only need your natural waist measurement. For a bodysuit (which covers from bust to mid-thigh or knee), you need your waist, hips, and torso length. If the waist falls in one size and the hips in another, choose the size that matches your hips — it's much easier for a faja to compress your waist than to stretch over fuller hips.
-
Choose based on hips, not waist. A faja can compress a smaller waist effectively, but it cannot stretch beyond its hip capacity without losing compression and rolling. For example, if your waist measures Large but your hips measure XL, order the XL. If the difference is extreme (more than two sizes apart), consider a separate waist trainer and panty shaper rather than a full bodysuit.
-
Yes. On every product page, click the SIZE GUIDE button just above the variant picker. It opens a calculator that auto-detects the brand of the product you're viewing, lets you enter your waist and hip measurements in either inches or centimeters, and instantly recommends your size. The same popup also includes a full size table and a step-by-step 'How to Measure' tutorial.
Post-Surgery Recovery
Fajas are an essential part of recovery after BBL, liposuction, tummy tuck, and mommy makeover procedures. The right compression at the right stage protects your investment and shapes your final result.
-
Most plastic surgeons recommend wearing your faja consistently for about three months after a Brazilian Butt Lift. The first six weeks are the most critical: wear your Stage 1 faja 24 hours a day, removing it only to bathe and to wash the garment. From weeks 6 to 8, transition to your Stage 2 faja for about 12 hours daily. From week 8 to month 3, reduce wear time gradually as swelling decreases. Always follow your surgeon's specific instructions — these timelines are general guidance and your individual protocol may vary.
-
Liposuction recovery typically requires 6 to 8 weeks of faja wear. Wear your Stage 1 faja 24 hours a day for the first 2 to 3 weeks while swelling and fluid drainage peak. Switch to a Stage 2 faja from week 3 onward, wearing it 12 to 16 hours daily for an additional 4 to 6 weeks. If you had a large volume of fat removed or had multiple areas treated, your surgeon may recommend extending Stage 2 wear up to 6 months for optimal skin retraction.
-
After a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), most surgeons recommend a faja or compression garment for 6 to 8 weeks. The first 2 weeks you'll typically wear an abdominal binder provided by your surgeon while your drains are in place. Once drains are removed and incisions begin to close, you'll transition to a Stage 1 faja for 3 weeks, then Stage 2 for another 3 to 4 weeks. Plan to sleep in your faja throughout the recovery period.
-
Stage 1 is a low-compression garment worn immediately after surgery, typically for the first 2 to 3 weeks. It allows fluid drainage and accommodates initial swelling. Stage 2 has medium to firm compression and is worn from week 3 through about 3 months — this is the garment that sculpts your final results. Stage 3 is the highest compression and is optional, worn from month 2 or 3 onward for long-term maintenance and contouring. Most patients only need Stage 1 and Stage 2.
-
Most patients transition from Stage 1 to Stage 2 between week 3 and week 4 after surgery. Signs that you're ready include: significant reduction in swelling, your Stage 1 faja feeling visibly loose, drainage from incisions has stopped, and your surgeon has cleared you. Switching too early can cause excessive compression on healing tissue; switching too late can result in skin that doesn't retract properly. When in doubt, ask your surgeon to confirm during your follow-up visit.
-
Yes — and for the first 6 to 8 weeks after surgery you should. Sleeping in your faja maintains continuous compression, which prevents nighttime fluid accumulation, supports incision healing, and helps your skin retract to its new shape. Some patients find side-sleeping more comfortable. For BBL patients specifically, avoid sleeping on your back or directly on your buttocks for at least 6 to 8 weeks to protect fat grafts.
-
Lipo foams are recommended for the first 7 to 10 days after liposuction to provide spot compression on specific treated areas (typically the abdomen, flanks, and back). They go between your skin and your Stage 1 faja and help prevent fluid pockets and uneven skin retraction. Foams are usually provided by your surgeon, but if you need extras, buying a second set lets you rotate them while one is being cleaned. After day 10, most patients can stop using foams unless their surgeon advises otherwise.
-
An abdominal board is a rigid plastic insert that sits between your skin and your faja over the abdomen. It applies even, flat pressure to prevent the formation of fibrosis (hard, lumpy scar tissue) and helps your stomach heal flat instead of wavy. Most patients use it during the day for the first 4 to 6 weeks, removing it at night. It's especially recommended after abdominal liposuction, tummy tuck, or BBL with abdominal contouring.
-
No — never shower in your faja. Wet fabric loses its compression properties, can cause skin irritation and bacterial growth, and takes hours to dry properly. Remove your faja, shower normally (avoiding direct water pressure on incisions if instructed), pat your skin dry, and put a clean, dry faja back on within 30 minutes. This is exactly why most surgeons recommend buying two fajas — so you always have a clean, dry one ready while the other is being washed.
-
Hand-washing is strongly recommended. Use cool water and a mild, fragrance-free detergent (baby detergent works well). Gently squeeze suds through the fabric — do not wring, twist, or scrub. Rinse thoroughly and lay flat on a clean towel to dry away from direct sunlight or heat. Never use bleach, fabric softener, or the dryer. Machine washing on a delicate cycle inside a mesh bag is acceptable as an occasional exception, but hand-washing significantly extends the compression life of the garment.
-
Stage 1 fajas are designed to feel loose — that's intentional. They have low compression to allow fluid drainage and accommodate post-op swelling. If your Stage 1 still feels loose after week 2 or 3, it likely means your swelling is reducing on schedule, and you're ready to size down for Stage 2. Do not stuff towels or foams to tighten a loose Stage 1 — that creates uneven pressure. Order a properly fitted Stage 2 instead.
-
Stage 1 fajas can be worn immediately after surgery, and in most cases your surgeon or surgical center will place one on you in the recovery room. For BBL patients, the faja is usually fitted right after surgery with appropriate openings to avoid pressure on the grafted areas. Do not switch to your own faja or a Stage 2 garment before your surgeon clears you — this is typically at the 2 or 3 week follow-up appointment.
-
Yes, but with one critical caveat: choose a BBL-specific faja with cut-outs over the buttocks. Standard fajas apply pressure that can compress and damage newly transferred fat cells, reducing the volume of your final result. BBL fajas have open or mesh-paneled rear sections that preserve the graft. Sleep on your stomach or side for the first 6 to 8 weeks — never on your back.
-
We strongly recommend it. You need to remove your faja to shower and to wash it, which means you'll have several hours each day without compression if you only own one. Two fajas let you maintain continuous compression while the other is being washed and air-dried. Many patients buy one Stage 1 (worn for 3 weeks) and two Stage 2 (worn for 2 to 3 months) — the Stage 2 garments get the most wear and benefit most from rotation.
-

To start a return, email support.canada@stellascorset.com with your order number.
-
Unfortunately no — for hygiene and health reasons, shapewear that has been worn, washed, or has had tags removed cannot be returned. This is standard policy across all Colombian shapewear retailers. We recommend trying your faja on briefly over thin clothing (like leggings or a slip) to check sizing before fully wearing it.
-
You have 15 days from the date your order is delivered (per Canada Post tracking) to request a return. Returns requested outside this window cannot be accepted. We recommend trying on your faja within the first few days of receiving it so you have plenty of time to request an exchange if needed.

Care & Maintenance
Proper care preserves compression and extends the life of your faja by months or years. Follow these guidelines to protect your investment.
-
Hand-wash in cool water with a mild, fragrance-free detergent (baby detergent or a gentle delicates wash). Gently squeeze suds through the fabric without scrubbing, wringing, or twisting. Rinse thoroughly in cool water until the water runs clear, then press out excess water by rolling the faja in a clean towel. Lay flat to dry away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Avoid hanging — wet fabric can stretch under its own weight.
-
No. The dryer is the single fastest way to destroy a faja. Heat breaks down latex, elastane, and powernet fibers, causing the garment to lose compression permanently within a few cycles. Always air-dry flat on a towel. If you're in a hurry, place the faja on a clean dry towel near a fan — never in direct sun, on a radiator, or in front of a heater.
-
Every 2 to 3 wears for daily-wear fajas, or every other day for post-surgical fajas worn 24/7. This is exactly why we recommend buying two — you can rotate while one is washing and drying. Washing too frequently can wear down the fabric, but washing too rarely lets sweat, oils, and bacteria degrade the elastic fibers and cause odor.
-
The most common causes are: machine washing with harsh detergent, drying on heat, exposure to sunlight, fabric softener (which coats and breaks down elastic fibers), and natural wear over time. A well-cared-for faja maintains 80 to 90 percent of its original compression for 6 to 12 months of regular wear. If yours has lost compression within weeks of purchase, contact us — there may be a manufacturing defect.
-
With proper care (hand-wash, air-dry, rotation between two garments), a quality Colombian faja maintains its compression for 6 to 12 months of regular wear. Post-surgical fajas worn 24/7 have a shorter effective life — typically 2 to 3 months at full compression — which is one of the reasons we recommend buying two for recovery. Bargain or counterfeit fajas often lose compression in just a few weeks.
-
No. Direct heat from an iron will permanently damage the latex and elastane fibers in your faja. If your faja has wrinkles after washing, the fabric will smooth out naturally within minutes of being worn against your body heat. For folded storage creases, lay the faja flat under a soft weight (like a folded towel) for a few hours before wearing.
-
For light stains, soak the affected area in cool water with a small amount of mild detergent for 15 to 30 minutes, then gently rub with your fingertips. Never use bleach, stain removers with chlorine, or hot water — all three will damage the fabric. For makeup or self-tanner stains, gentle dish soap can help. For oil-based stains, a small amount of baby shampoo applied directly often works best.
-
Fold gently and store flat in a drawer or on a closet shelf. Avoid hanging fajas for long periods — gravity can stretch the elastic fibers over time. Keep them away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture. If you only wear seasonally (for example, post-surgery garments after recovery), store them in a breathable cotton bag rather than plastic to prevent moisture buildup.
Materials & Comfort
Colombian fajas use medical-grade fabrics engineered for compression, durability, and breathability. Here's what they're made of and what to expect.
-
Most Colombian fajas combine three core fabrics: powernet (a high-stretch nylon-elastane mesh that delivers compression), latex (which provides firmness and shape memory), and cotton or microfiber lining against the skin for comfort and moisture management. The exact blend varies by brand and product line — post-surgical fajas typically have more latex for firmer compression, while everyday fajas emphasize cotton-lined breathability.
-
Most Colombian fajas contain latex as a core compression material. If you have a latex allergy, look for products specifically labeled 'latex-free' in the product description — these typically use a higher percentage of synthetic elastomers like Lycra or Spandex instead. If you're unsure about a specific product, email support.canada@stellascorset.com and we'll confirm the material composition before you order.
-
Yes — quality Colombian fajas use breathable powernet mesh and cotton or microfiber linings designed to wick moisture away from the skin. They are significantly more breathable than rubber waist trainers or vinyl sweat belts. You may still feel warmer than usual during the first few days of wear, especially in humid climates, but this typically subsides as your body adjusts.
-
A correctly sized faja with smooth, flat seams is virtually invisible under most clothing. Look for product descriptions that mention 'invisible seams,' 'seamless,' or 'second-skin' for the smoothest finish under fitted dresses and pencil skirts. Avoid thin, light-colored clothing if you're wearing a high-coverage faja in a contrasting color — choose a nude or beige faja under light clothing and black under dark clothing.
-
Yes, but with adjustments. Choose a breathable everyday faja (cotton-lined, powernet-heavy construction) rather than a high-compression latex-heavy garment. Stay hydrated, take occasional 10 to 15 minute breaks if you feel overheated, and avoid combining a faja with thick, heat-trapping outer clothing. In extreme heat, consider a lighter-coverage garment like a waist trainer instead of a full-body faja.
-
Most people experience no irritation when wearing a properly fitted faja in the correct size. If you experience redness, itching, or rash, the most common causes are: faja that's too tight, fabric softener residue from washing, prolonged wear without breaks, or a latex sensitivity. Switch to a properly sized faja, wash with fragrance-free detergent only, and let your skin breathe for a few hours each day.
-
Light to moderate exercise (walking, low-impact yoga, light cardio) is fine in an everyday faja or a waist trainer designed for activity. For intense workouts, choose a workout-specific waist trainer made from breathable neoprene or athletic mesh — these are designed to handle sweat and movement. Do not wear post-surgical fajas during intense exercise unless your surgeon has explicitly cleared you.
-
Most Colombian fajas have cotton or microfiber inner linings specifically designed for sensitive skin. If you have a known latex allergy or extremely sensitive skin, look for products labeled 'latex-free' or 'hypoallergenic' in the description. Always wash a new faja before first wear with a fragrance-free detergent to remove any factory residue.
